Kenya's first Grade 10 cohort has spent a year doing something no class did before it: learning senior school subjects nobody's older sibling could describe. Term 3 closes that pioneer year, and it carries more weight than its length suggests: consolidation of every strand taught, the community service learning project reaching its report stage, and the subject-level evidence that shapes Grade 11.
What Term 3 actually contains
| Term 3 priority | Why it matters | What to do about it |
|---|---|---|
| Consolidating the year's strands | Grade 11 assumes them all | One revision paper per subject, marked against the scheme |
| The CSL project report | It is assessed evidence, not an extra | Write the report from the project log, outcome first |
| End-of-year assessments | They inform Grade 11 subject depth | Treat them as the KJSEA habit continued: working shown, format kept |
| Reading ahead | The cohort has no older notes to borrow | Skim next year's strand lists per subject before closing day |
The community service learning project deserves its own week. Assessors reward the distinction between activity and outcome: what changed in the community, evidenced by the log, photographs and the reflection, not merely what the class did. A project written up honestly, including what failed and what was learned, marks higher than a glossy account of unbroken success.
For parents of the pioneer class
This cohort's families are pioneers too. The pathway system their children entered is explained in our pathways guide, and the full subject map in the Grade 10 subjects list. The next class behind them, this year's KJSEA candidates, will walk the same road in January; those families should start with our placement guide.
For the term itself, every Grade 10 subject's revision papers, notes and marking schemes ship in one download in the Grade 10 Complete Revision and Exam Kit, and the CSL report stage is walked through step by step in the CSL Project Kit. A year nobody could copy deserves a finish nobody has to improvise.
