🤖 So what actually is AI?
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is any computer system that can perform tasks that normally require human intelligence.
That includes things like: understanding language, recognising images, making decisions, translating text, generating creative content, and learning from experience.
When you ask Siri a question — that's AI. When M-Pesa flags a suspicious transaction — that's AI. When Netflix recommends a show you actually enjoy — that's AI. When Safaricom's system recognises your voice — that's AI.
📌 Key Analogy
Think of AI like teaching a child. You show them 1,000 pictures of cats and 1,000 pictures of dogs. After a while, they can tell the difference — even with a new picture they've never seen. That's exactly how many AI systems work. They "learn" by seeing thousands of examples.

Is this course really free?
Yes — completely free. All 5 modules, the quizzes, and the certificate cost nothing. There's no hidden payment at any step. CBC Edu Kenya's AI course is free as a service to learners worldwide.
Do I need any technical background?
None at all. This course is designed for complete beginners. If you know how to use WhatsApp or browse the internet, you have all the technical skills you need to start.
How long does the course take?
Each module takes about 20-30 minutes to read through and complete the quiz. The full course is roughly 2 hours total. You can go at your own pace — there's no deadline.
Is the certificate recognised by employers or universities?
Our certificate is not accredited by a government body — it's a completion certificate that shows you've learned the fundamentals. It's best shared on LinkedIn to signal curiosity and upskilling. For formal accreditation, look at Google's AI Essentials, Microsoft AI Fundamentals, or deeplearning.ai certifications — we link to all of these in Module 5.
Do I need to install anything?
No installations required. Everything runs in your browser. The Module 4 hands-on project uses Google's Teachable Machine, which also runs entirely in your browser with no downloads.
