Ask a Grade 6 teacher where able candidates lose English marks and the answer is rarely grammar. It is comprehension: children who read fluently still answer from their heads instead of the passage, copy chunks without shaping them, and answer half of a two-part question. Every one of these is a habit, and habits can be corrected in the weeks before KPSEA.
The four habits and their fixes

The underline drill matters most. Train the child to touch the passage for every single answer, physically underlining the evidence line and writing the question number beside it. This one mechanical habit converts reading ability into marks, because KPSEA comprehension is marked on what the passage supports, not on what a bright child plausibly believes.
A ten-minute daily routine
One short passage per evening, five questions, marked immediately by a parent or the child against the answers, with one rule enforced: no answer counts unless its evidence line is underlined. Ten minutes daily beats one long weekend session, because the habit is the target, not the passage.
