Many Kenyan families now run two tracks side by side: CBC (CBE) in most schools, and Cambridge IGCSE in schools and homes that follow it. If your child is on the IGCSE track, you will have noticed that tuition prices are all over the place. One tutor charges per hour, another per term, another per subject. It is hard to know what is fair.
This page does not tell you what to pay anywhere else. It explains how our live IGCSE classes are priced, what a weekly fee should include, and the questions worth asking any provider.

How IGCSE tuition is priced here
We keep one simple rule: IGCSE is exactly double the CBC price, for the same time period. That keeps the price easy to remember and easy to compare.
| Plan | CBC (Grades 4 to 10) | IGCSE |
|---|---|---|
| 1 week | KSh 3,000 | KSh 6,000 |
| 2 weeks | KSh 6,000 | KSh 12,000 |
| 1 month | KSh 12,000 | KSh 24,000 |
The Academy page also lists a try-one-class option for IGCSE at KSh 1,500. Check the current page or WhatsApp us for the latest details before you pay, because offers can change.
What a weekly IGCSE fee should include
- Live sessions. We run 4 live sessions a week for IGCSE, in small online classes.
- A real teacher. Someone who answers your child's questions in the class, not a recording.
- Notes after every class. So your child can revise without rewriting everything.
- A clear timetable. Days and times fixed in advance.
- A simple way to pay. M-Pesa, with a clear amount for a clear period.
Ask which IGCSE subjects are running for your child's level before you pay. Subjects and class groups are confirmed on WhatsApp.
CBC or IGCSE: how families decide
This is a family decision and we are not going to push you. A few things to weigh:
- Your child's school. Most families follow what the school teaches, and use tuition to support it.
- Future plans. Some families choose IGCSE for study options abroad, others keep CBC and the Kenyan pathway.
- Learning style. IGCSE tends to reward exam technique in particular subjects, while CBE builds competencies across many learning areas.
If you are mid-way and not sure, our IGCSE holiday plan and the IGCSE hub are good starting points, and the guide on why CBE is not a race covers the CBC side.
Questions to ask any IGCSE tutor or provider
- How many live sessions a week, and how long is each one?
- Can my child ask questions in the class?
- What notes or materials follow each session?
- Which subjects and which levels are running right now?
- What happens if my child misses a class?
- What is the total price for the week, the fortnight and the month?
The same checks apply to CBC tuition: see seven questions to ask before you pay and online tuition compared with a home tutor and revision books.
