Who this is for
- Parents of an IGCSE learner in Kenya who want the school break to move the grades forward, not backwards.
- Learners in the year before their IGCSE papers who want the syllabus finished early and the exam technique practised properly.
- Candidates who need a weak subject such as Mathematics, Chemistry or Physics rebuilt before the next sitting.
- Families who want a real Cambridge-focused tutor without driving across town in traffic.
The long break is the best time of the year to improve an IGCSE grade. There is no homework load from school, no co-curricular timetable, and no daily commute. What there usually is, however, is a phone, a sofa and a plan that never quite starts. By the time school reopens, the learner has rested well and learnt little, and the syllabus pressure of the new term arrives all at once.
This guide is for families who want something better. It shows how to use the holiday for a focused IGCSE plan built around live classes with a real tutor, explains why past-paper practice with feedback beats passive revision, and sets out exactly what our IGCSE live training includes, what it costs and how to start through our Holiday Learning Academy.
Key takeaways
- The holiday is IGCSE gold. Use it to finish the syllabus first, then drill real past-paper questions with mark-scheme thinking.
- A live tutor beats a video. Your learner can ask the question they were afraid to ask in class and get it answered on the spot.
- Our IGCSE classes: live and interactive, about 60 minutes, East Africa Time, 4 live sessions a week per subject on every plan except Elite (5 to 6).
- Prices: from KSh 6,000 a week for one subject. Single drop-in session KSh 1,500. All paid by M-Pesa.
- Start: WhatsApp IGCSE to 0711 344 702. We confirm subject and class times within 24 hours.
Why the holiday matters so much for IGCSE
IGCSE papers reward two things: knowing the whole syllabus, and knowing how Cambridge awards marks. Most learners run out of time on the first and never get enough practice on the second. During term, lessons move at the speed of the class. In the holiday, a learner can move at their own speed, go back to the chapters that never made sense, and practise questions until the method is automatic.
The difference between a C and an A is very often not intelligence. It is whether the learner has written enough real exam answers, had them checked, and learnt what the examiner was looking for. That is exactly the work a holiday is long enough to do. Our guides on the 5-step past-paper method and on using mark schemes properly explain why.
A three-phase IGCSE holiday plan
Here is the plan we recommend for any IGCSE learner with a sitting ahead. Adjust the length of each phase to your own break and your own exam date.
| Phase | Goal | What it looks like |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Rest and audit (first few days) | Recover and find the gaps | List every syllabus chapter per subject and mark it green, amber or red. Be honest. |
| 2. Close the gaps (the middle weeks) | Finish and fix the syllabus | Live classes work through the red and amber chapters first. Notes after every session go into one revision file. |
| 3. Exam technique (the final weeks) | Turn knowledge into marks | Timed past-paper questions, marked against the mark scheme, with the tutor explaining what earns and loses marks. |
This mirrors the way our IGCSE classes are built: syllabus completion first, then intensive past-paper drilling. Learners in earlier years, who are not sitting papers soon, simply spend longer in phase 2 and get ahead of their class.
What our IGCSE live classes include
Our IGCSE training is a real class with a real tutor, live on your phone or laptop. It follows the Cambridge syllabus and drills real past-paper questions.
- Live and interactive. Sessions are about 60 minutes, East Africa Time. Learners ask questions and work through papers together with the tutor. It is a class, not a video.
- 4 live sessions a week on every plan, per subject (Elite runs 5 to 6 a week).
- Past-paper focused. Every week includes worked past-paper questions and mark-scheme thinking: what examiners award marks for, and how to write answers that earn them.
- Further reading notes to download after every session.
- Works on Kenyan bandwidth. The classroom opens in the Chrome browser and runs comfortably on a normal data bundle. No app to install and no account to create. Earphones and a quiet corner are all a learner needs.
- Links by email. Class links arrive by email before each class, and every class is listed on the learner's personal dashboard.
- Welcome Pack. Emailed as soon as your M-Pesa payment is confirmed.

IGCSE plans and prices
Every plan includes 4 live sessions a week (Elite runs 5 to 6) with further reading notes to download after every session. You can add extra sessions to any plan at KSh 1,500 each.
| Plan | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Single Session (drop-in) | KSh 1,500 | One live interactive session. Try a class first. |
| Standard (weekly) | KSh 6,000 a week | 4 live sessions a week, notes after every session |
| Advanced (bi-weekly) | KSh 12,000 for 2 weeks | 8 live sessions, notes after every session |
| Intensive (monthly) | KSh 24,000 a month | 16 live sessions, notes after every session. Best for candidates. |
| Elite (maximum support) | From KSh 30,000 a month | 5 to 6 sessions a week, all subjects covered, priority 1-on-1 support, detailed marking, class recordings and notes |
For a family with a learner taking several subjects, Elite is worth a careful look: one monthly price covers every subject, with 1-on-1 support and detailed marking. For a learner who needs to rescue one subject, the Intensive plan gives the most sessions for that subject.
How to start in three steps
- Pick a plan. Single Session, Standard, Advanced, Intensive or Elite. Pay by M-Pesa and your Welcome Pack is emailed as soon as the payment is confirmed. Not sure? WhatsApp IGCSE to 0711 344 702 and ask.
- Get your timetable. We confirm your subject and class times on WhatsApp within 24 hours. Your plan starts from your first attended session, so you lose nothing.
- Join live and learn. Before each class you receive your link. Tap it at class time and you are in the room with the tutor. Speak, ask, practise.
Getting the most from live IGCSE classes
- Bring the hard question. Before each class, write down one question or past-paper item that beat you. The live format exists for exactly this.
- Keep one revision file per subject. Download the notes after every session and file them. By the end of the holiday that file is a personal revision guide.
- Do the questions, then the mark scheme. Attempt first, mark second, ask the tutor third. That order builds the habit examiners reward.
- Time yourself. In the final weeks, write answers against the clock. Speed is a skill.
- Pair classes with materials. Our IGCSE Countdown Bundle (all 6 subjects: plans, topicals, timed papers) fits alongside the classes for complete preparation.
Studying IGCSE online is now a normal, well-trodden route in Kenya; our guide Can you study IGCSE online in Kenya? covers the wider picture, and our private candidate registration guide helps learners who are not entered through a school.
A sample holiday week for an IGCSE learner
Here is what a balanced week can look like for a learner taking live classes in one subject, with independent work in the others. Your actual class times are confirmed on WhatsApp; classes run Monday to Friday in the late afternoon and evening.
| Time of day | Monday to Friday | Weekend |
|---|---|---|
| Morning | One focused hour on another subject: re-read the notes, then attempt five past-paper questions | Rest, family, faith, sport |
| Midday and afternoon | Free time, chores, exercise, friends | Free |
| Late afternoon or evening | Live IGCSE class on four of the five days (about 60 minutes) | One timed past-paper section, marked with the mark scheme |
| After class | Ten minutes to file the session notes and write the next question for the tutor | Plan the coming week |
That is roughly two hours of serious work on a weekday, which is sustainable for weeks on end. Learners who try to do six hours a day in the first week rarely reach the third week. Steady beats heroic.
What parents can do (without being the tutor)
You do not need to understand quadratic equations or organic chemistry to make a big difference. Your job is the environment and the rhythm; the tutor's job is the content.
- Protect the class time. No errands, no visitors, no "just help me with this" during the session.
- Sort the basics the night before. Charged phone or laptop, data bundle, earphones, exercise book.
- Ask three questions on Friday. What did you learn this week? What is still hard? What will you ask the tutor next week?
- Watch the notes file grow. If the folder of downloaded notes is getting thicker, the plan is working.
- Talk to us early. If something is not working, message us on WhatsApp. We would rather adjust in week one than lose a month.
Is it right for your learner?
| Your situation | What we suggest |
|---|---|
| One weak subject, otherwise on track | Standard or Intensive in that one subject |
| Several subjects need work | Elite, or two plans side by side |
| Not sure whether live classes suit your learner | Start with a Single Session at KSh 1,500 |
| Retaking after a disappointing result | Intensive, plus our retake and next-steps guide |

Frequently asked questions
When are the IGCSE classes?
Classes run Monday to Friday in the late afternoon and evening, East Africa Time. We confirm your exact subject slots on WhatsApp within 24 hours of enrolment, and your plan only starts counting from your first attended session.
What does my learner need to join?
A phone, tablet or laptop with the Chrome browser and a normal data bundle. Open the class link in Chrome; there is no app to install and no account to create.
Is it only for learners sitting papers soon?
No. The rhythm is built around the countdown to exams, with syllabus completion first and then intensive past-paper drilling, but learners in earlier years are welcome too.
What if we miss a session?
Tell us on WhatsApp before class and we will fit you into an equivalent session where possible. If we ever cancel a class, you always get a make-up session.
Can my learner do more than one subject?
Yes. Message us on WhatsApp to add another subject and we will arrange it, crediting anything already paid that month. Or take the Elite plan and attend everything, with priority 1-on-1 support and class recordings.
Where are the class links once we have enrolled?
Links arrive by email before each class, and all classes are on the personal dashboard under My Classes. Sign in with the email you paid with; no password is needed.
Information current as of 22 October 2026. Class details and prices are as shown on our IGCSE live training page; if anything changes, that page wins.
