Editorial Standards
How we write, source, fact-check and update every article and resource published on cbcedukenya.com.
Last updated: 11 June 2026
1. Who writes for cbcedukenya.com
Every long-form article and every downloadable resource on this site is written or directly edited by Charles Mungai, founder and lead author of CBC Edu Kenya. We do not currently accept guest posts or sponsored editorial content. Where an article is co-authored or relies heavily on a specific external source, that is disclosed at the top of the article.
2. Sourcing
All claims about Kenya's national curriculum — CBC, now formally referred to as CBE — are sourced from the official Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) curriculum designs for the relevant grade and learning area.
All claims about national assessment (KCSE, KJSEA, CBA, KCPE) are sourced from KNEC circulars, the Ministry of Education and direct KNEC examiner reports where applicable.
All claims about Cambridge IGCSE, O Level, AS & A Level reference the active Cambridge Assessment International Education syllabus for the named subject and year, identified by its syllabus code (e.g. Mathematics 0580, Biology 0610).
3. Fact-checking
- Every numeric claim (price, deadline, percentage, page count) is verified against a primary source at the time of writing.
- Every named policy or programme (HELB, KUCCPS, TPAD, KJSEA, KCSE) is checked against the most recent published policy document we can locate.
- If a claim cannot be verified against a primary source, it is either removed before publication or clearly labelled as our opinion / observation.
4. Update & correction policy
Kenyan education policy moves fast. We commit to:
- Re-checking time-sensitive articles (loans, deadlines, registration, term dates) at least once per term.
- Updating the "Last updated" date at the top of any article when a substantive change is made.
- Acknowledging significant corrections in a short note at the bottom of the affected article rather than silently editing.
- Removing articles whose subject matter has become irrelevant rather than letting them rot in search results.
If you spot an error, please email cbcedukenya@gmail.com or WhatsApp +254 711 344 702. We respond within 24 hours on weekdays.
5. Independence from advertisers and sponsors
cbcedukenya.com displays Google AdSense advertising. Ad placement is automated by Google — we do not pre-approve specific ads, and the presence of an ad on a page does not constitute an endorsement.
We do not accept payment in exchange for editorial coverage. Where we recommend a product or service (including our own), we say clearly that it is a recommendation, and we explain the basis.
6. Affiliate / commercial disclosure
cbcedukenya.com sells its own downloadable revision packs, lesson plan packs and Somo AI tutor subscriptions. Articles may link to these products. Those links are not paid affiliate links — we own and produce the resources we promote.
7. User-generated content
Where comments, testimonials or contributed material is featured on the site, it is reviewed by Charles before publication. We do not publish content we cannot personally vouch for or trace.
8. AI-assisted writing
Some drafts may be produced with the assistance of AI tools. No article is published without direct human review and editing by Charles. Where AI assistance materially shaped an article's structure or content, that is disclosed.
