One item on the list matters directly to families following the Competency-Based Education (CBE) rollout: the planned deployment of qualified P1 teachers to Junior School positions. Junior School (Grades 7 to 9) has faced persistent questions about staffing since the first cohorts moved up, and moving trained primary teachers into these grades is part of the Government's response. For parents of Grade 7, 8 and 9 learners preparing for the KJSEA assessment, adequate subject teaching in Junior School is not an abstract policy question; it is the difference between a syllabus covered in time and one rushed before the October window.
Teacher supply also shapes how much revision support learners get at school versus at home.
