Term 2 2026 opens in late April for most Kenyan schools. A little preparation in the days before school opens makes the first week much smoother. Here is the complete back-to-school checklist for Kenyan parents.
Term 2 2026 Back-to-School Checklist
Administrative Items
- School fees paid or payment plan confirmed with the bursar
- Previous term's report card collected and filed
- Any outstanding fees from Term 1 cleared
- Lunch arrangement confirmed (packed lunch, school lunch, or day student)
Stationery and Supplies
- Exercise books — enough for each subject (at least 2 per subject for primary, 1 per subject for secondary)
- Pens, pencils, ruler, eraser, sharpener
- Mathematical set (compasses, protractor, set squares) — Grade 7 upwards
- Scientific calculator — Grade 7 upwards (check school policy on which model is allowed)
- Drawing book and art supplies (where applicable)
- File or folder for CBA portfolio materials
Uniform and Personal Items
- Full school uniform clean and in good repair — two sets minimum
- School shoes polished
- Sports kit ready for P.E.
- Water bottle (most CBC schools encourage water throughout the day)
For Grade 9 Parents (KJSEA Year)
- Confirm your child is registered for KJSEA — verify via SMS to 20076
- Purchase Term 2 revision materials for all 5 KJSEA subjects
- Set up a daily revision routine before school opens
