Direct answer: A good CBC revision pack shows its real page count, covers every strand of the grade, gives worked examples, and includes an answer booklet with marking points. Before you pay, open the product page, compare the numbers it gives, and read what the seller says was and was not checked. Use the seven checks below.
Why "with answers" is not enough
Parents often search for revision papers "with answers", and many packs use the phrase. It can mean anything from a one-line answer key to a full booklet that shows working and marking points. A short stub and a deep pack can carry the same label, so the check has to happen before payment, on the product page.
Seven checks before you buy

A second example: the Grade 9 packs
The Grade 9 English pack is listed at KSh 100. Its page states 140 pages counted in the file, 20 units, three 50-mark term tests and a 100-mark end-of-year paper, plus a 32-page detachable answer booklet. The page counts four other Grade 9 packs as well: Integrated Science 97, Pre-Technical Studies 101, CRE 110 and Agriculture and Nutrition 87 pages, which with English make 535 pages. Use the same seven checks on each.
What a pack cannot do
- It cannot promise a result. The pages we read call the packs a study aid.
- Score bands such as EE, ME, AE and BE in an answer booklet are, on the Grade 9 pages, described as a revision guide and not a KNEC cut-off.
- A revision pack is not a textbook, and it carries no KICD or KNEC approval unless the seller shows one you can verify.
A simple way to use a pack
- Print or open one subject and read the contents list against your child's school notes.
- Let the learner attempt a test without the answer booklet.
- Mark it together using the marking points, and list the three weakest sub-strands.
- Repeat those sub-strands with the worked examples before trying the next test.

Frequently asked questions
What does "with answers" mean on a revision pack?
It should mean an answer for every question. The better version is a separate booklet that shows working for maths and marking points for written answers.
How many pages should a good pack have?
There is no official number. Compare the page count with how much of the grade the pack claims to cover, and check it is split by subject.
Can I preview a pack before paying?
Some pages offer a preview. The Grade 9 Agriculture page, for example, says its free preview covers the first two pages, so ask how much you will see.
Does a revision pack guarantee better results?
No. The pages we read say the packs are a study aid and do not guarantee a good result.
Is a revision pack the same as a KICD-approved book?
No. A revision pack is a study aid. Check the Ministry and KICD sources if you need an approved textbook list.
