Who this is for
- Grade 6 learners sitting KPSEA 2026, and parents who want a quick, fair check of the Creative Arts and Social Studies paper.
- KPSEA runs from Monday 26 October to Wednesday 28 October 2026, opening with Mathematics. The rehearsal is on Friday 23 October. The day of this paper is on the official KJSEA and KPSEA 2026 calendar.
- Below are 12 original questions, seven on Social Studies and five on Creative Arts, with worked answers. Allow about 30 minutes.
This is the KPSEA paper that families tend to revise least, because it combines two learning areas and neither feels as urgent as Mathematics or English. That is exactly why it is worth an evening. Most of the questions reward a learner who can read a map, think through a real situation at school or at home, and remember a small number of facts about colour, rhythm and movement. None of it needs expensive materials.
These are practice questions written by CBC Edu Kenya in the Grade 6 competency style. They are not a KNEC paper and not a leaked paper.

Worked answers
Social Studies
1. C, north-west. Opposite directions are half a turn apart. South-east and north-west sit on opposite sides of the compass. A quick way to check at home: draw the eight points and join opposite ones with a straight line through the centre.
2. B, 20 km. Each centimetre stands for 5 km, so 4 × 5 = 20 km. Option A adds instead of multiplying, which is the mistake to watch for.
3. D, Rwanda. Lake Victoria is shared by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. Rwanda is close by but does not border the lake.
4. B, Mount Kenya. It is the highest mountain in Kenya. Mount Elgon is on the border with Uganda and is lower.
5. A, the Governor. The Governor heads the county government. Members of County Assembly make county laws, and the Senator represents the county in the Senate.
6. Any two rights for 1 mark each: the right to education, to health care, to food and shelter, to protection from abuse, to a name and nationality, to play. Any one responsibility for 1 mark: attending school on time, respecting teachers and other learners, doing homework, keeping the school clean. A right and a responsibility are different things; a learner who lists three rights gets two marks.
7. Any two, 1 mark each: close taps after use; report leaking taps or pipes; harvest rainwater from the roof; reuse water from washing for the school garden; use a cup instead of drinking straight from a running tap.
Creative Arts
8. (a) Green (1 mark). (b) Secondary (1 mark). The three primary colours are red, yellow and blue. A secondary colour is made by mixing two primary colours.
9. C, 4. A minim is worth 2 crotchet beats and each crotchet is worth 1, so 2 + 1 + 1 = 4.
10. A, nyatiti. The nyatiti is a stringed instrument of the Luo community, played by plucking. The kayamba is shaken, the drum is struck and the horn is blown.
11. Any two, 1 mark each: to raise body temperature and get muscles ready; to reduce the chance of injuries such as pulled muscles; to make the heart and lungs work gradually before hard exercise; to prepare the mind for the game.
12. Any two, 1 mark each: sisal, papyrus, palm leaves, banana fibre, reeds. Plastic strips from used bags are also accepted as a recycled material.
Reading the score
The set is worth 18 marks. Fifteen or more is a good position. If the marks went on Questions 1 and 2, spend two evenings on direction and scale with any map at home. If they went on 6, 7, 11 and 12, the learner knows the ideas but stops after one point. Teach them to count: two marks, two points. Our KPSEA timetable guide, paper by paper shows how this paper fits into the week.
