KJSEA Creative Arts 911 and Pre Technical 912: Projects Done, Papers Left

Creative Arts and Sports and Pre Technical Studies are assessed in two parts each. The project components were assessed between May and July 2026. The written papers are sat in the October week.

First, confirm the projects were recorded

Project marks feed into School Based Assessment, which carries 40 percent of the KJSEA grade. Because projects are assessed outside normal lesson time, and sometimes by a teacher who has since changed class, they are the component most likely to be sitting in a file rather than in a submission.

One message to the class teacher asking for written confirmation that 911/1, 912/2 and 906/2 marks were submitted for your child is the highest value thing a parent can do this month. Our guide to the 40 percent already banked explains why this cannot be fixed after results day.

Revising 911/2, Creative Arts and Sports written

The written paper tests the understanding behind the practical work rather than the practical skill itself. Expect questions on:

• Elements and principles, and being able to name them precisely rather than describe them loosely.
• Materials, tools and techniques, including safe and correct use.
• Rules, officiating and basic organisation in sports.
• Health, safety and the value of participation.

Because the project is finished, the most efficient revision is to use it. Have your child explain what they made or performed, what choices they made and why, and what they would change. Almost every written question can be answered from that reflection, and it is far more memorable than notes.

Revising 912/1, Pre Technical Studies written

Pre Technical is the last full written paper of the week, sat on Friday 30 October alongside Religious Education and the Science practical paper. Expect:

• Tools, their correct names and their correct uses.
• Materials and their properties.
• Workshop safety, which is reliably examined and easily revised.
• Simple drawing, measurement and interpretation of diagrams.
• Basic entrepreneurship and business ideas as applied to technical work.

Precision of vocabulary matters here. A tool described by what it does, rather than named, usually does not score.

Both papers reward diagrams

Where a diagram is asked for, draw it. Label it. Use a pencil and a ruler. A labelled diagram often carries marks that a paragraph of description does not, and it takes less time to produce.

Conversely, where a diagram is not asked for, do not spend five minutes drawing one.

Do not let the last day drift

Both of these papers fall in the second half of a long week, 911/2 on the crowded Thursday and 912/1 on the final Friday. Each still carries the same 8 points as every other learning area toward the 72 point total.
