Cambridge marks Mathematics in two currencies: accuracy marks for right answers, and method marks for right thinking. Candidates who work in their heads spend only the first currency, and when an answer slips, they lose everything at once. The single largest technique gain in 0580 is mechanical: write the method down, every time, because a wrong answer above visible correct method still collects.

Where the November papers concentrate
The anchors repeat series after series: percentages and ratio in context, algebraic manipulation and solving, mensuration of the standard solids, right-angled trigonometry and bearings, probability including tree diagrams, and statistics with cumulative frequency. The transformation and vectors questions separate grades at the top of the Extended paper, and reward candidates who state transformations fully: type, plus centre, angle, scale factor or vector, every component named.
Checking is a technique of its own: substitute solutions back into equations, test that a probability lands between zero and one, and ask whether a length of 4,000 metres for a classroom makes sense. One reread of the question before moving on catches the "give your answer as a percentage" instructions that quietly cost a mark each.

The final month
One past paper per week under time, marked against the scheme, with a rework session for every question dropped. In the last fortnight, alternate papers with topic drills on your two weakest anchors. Marks in 0580 are not found on exam day; they are banked in the four weeks before it, one written method line at a time.
