If you have searched for a free AI course in Kenya with a certificate, this page tells you what is on offer, what is not, and how to decide whether the certificate is worth paying for. Everything here comes from the course pages themselves, so you can check each point before you start.

What do you learn in the 10 modules?

The free AI course starts with "What is AI?" and ends with a capstone project. Each module is a short lesson with a 5-question quiz. You need 3 out of 5 to unlock the next module. Module 2 includes a hands-on exercise with Google's Teachable Machine that runs in your browser, so nothing needs installing.

Who is the course for?

It is for anyone who wants to understand AI and use it well: students, teachers, parents and people at work. You do not need a technical background. Teachers who want to try AI for lesson planning will also like the Lesson Plan AI tool, which gives three free lesson plans. If you want to see how AI is changing learning in Kenya, our guide on how learning is going the AI way is a good companion read.

Here is where each group can start:

  • Teachers: Module 6 covers AI tools for students and teachers, and Modules 4 and 5 teach you to write clear prompts.
  • Students: Modules 1 to 3 explain what AI is and where you already meet it. Module 9 helps you use it honestly.
  • Working adults: Module 7 looks at AI for everyday work tasks, and Module 8 shows how to build a simple project without being a coder.
  • Parents: Modules 1 to 3 and 9 give you the words to talk about AI at home.

Is the certificate worth paying for?

That depends on what you need. Here is the honest picture.

  • What it is: a certificate of completion with a unique ID and a QR code that links to a public check page. It is emailed to you after your payment is approved.
  • What it is not: a qualification accredited by a government body. It does not replace a KNEC result or a university award.
  • Worth it if: you want something to show an employer or put on LinkedIn that proves you finished a structured course.
  • Skip it if: you only want the skills. The learning is free either way.

If you need a formal credential for a job application, look at a programme from a recognised provider as well. You can read how the paid AI certificate works before you decide.

How do I verify a certificate?

  1. Open the certificate verification page.
  2. Paste the certificate ID, or scan the QR code on the certificate, which leads to the same page.
  3. If the certificate appears, CBC Edu Kenya issued it. If it does not appear, we did not issue it.
