If you've used CBC Edu Kenya before, you'll have noticed something change. Where there used to be three separate products per subject — Notes, then Formulas/Reference, then Revision Papers — there is now one. One editable Word document. One price. Everything in it. This is the new Study Pack structure, live today across the whole CBC catalog from PP1 to Grade 12.
What's actually in a Study Pack
One .docx file. KICD-aligned. Editable in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice — anything that opens Word. Inside, three clearly separated sections:
- Notes — full coverage of every strand and sub-strand for that subject at that grade. Worked examples per topic. Plain language. No padding.
- Reference / Formula sheet — every formula, key term, irregular verb, or strand-mnemonic the learner should know by heart. For Maths and Sciences this is the formula table; for English and Kiswahili it's the grammar quick-reference; for Social Studies it's national symbols, key dates, and core values.
- Revision Paper + Marking Scheme — a full marked paper, with a CBA band guide (EE / ME / AE / BE). For Grade 9 Mathematics specifically, the paper is built KJSEA-style.
Old structure: a teacher buying a Grade 8 Maths revision file had to pick between a Notes product, a Formulas product, and a Revision product — three separate downloads. New structure: Grade 8 Mathematics — Complete Pack. One file. KSH 200.
The KSH 500 Grade Pack — and why it's the better buy
If a learner needs more than one subject, the math gets interesting. Buy five subject packs separately at KSH 200 each — that's KSH 1,000. Buy the Complete Grade Package instead — every subject for that grade, bundled into one mega Word document — KSH 500. Half the price.
We've shipped 11 grade packages so far:
- PP1 — Complete Grade Package (5 activity areas)
- PP2 — Complete Grade Package (5 activity areas)
- Grade 4 · Grade 5 · Grade 6 (5 subjects each — Maths, English, Kiswahili, Science & Tech, Social Studies)
- Grade 7 · Grade 8 · Grade 9 — Junior Secondary (5 subjects each — including Integrated Science)
- Grade 10 · Grade 11 · Grade 12 — Senior Secondary (Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English)
Why bundle? Why now?
Three reasons.
One — clarity of choice. The old catalog had three or four overlapping products for every subject and most buyers couldn't tell which one to choose. Should they get Notes or Revision? Both? In what order? One pack removes that decision.
Two — value at a single price point. KSH 200 for a complete subject is honest pricing for the content density. There is no "starter" version and no "premium" upsell at the subject level. What you buy is everything.
Three — the grade pack as the upsell. If you came for one subject and discover you actually need three, the grade pack saves you money. It's the upsell that pays the buyer back, not one that extracts more.
Why "editable" matters
Most CBC revision PDFs floating around the internet are scanned, watermarked, or password-locked. You cannot edit them. You cannot put your school's name on the cover. You cannot copy a single question to put on a Friday quiz. You paid KSH 200 to receive an image that the publisher could withdraw at any time.
Our packs are real Word documents. Open them in Word. Open them in Google Docs. Type your school's name. Drag your logo in. Change the date. Edit a typo. Print fifty. The content is yours. The format is yours. You own the document, you don't rent it.
What's KICD-aligned mean in practice
Every strand in every pack maps to the KICD Curriculum Design for that grade and learning area. The Grade 7 Mathematics pack covers the five strands KICD specifies: Numbers, Algebra, Measurement, Geometry, and Data Handling. The Grade 9 Mathematics pack adds the senior-track topics — indices and standard form, simultaneous equations, quadratics, trigonometric ratios — because those are what KJSEA examines. The Grade 11 Biology pack covers cell biology, transport mechanisms, genetics, human body systems, ecology, and evolution — the senior secondary KICD scope, not the junior secondary one.
Our KICD Lesson Plan Format guide covers what KICD requires structurally; the Study Packs deliver the content that fills those formats.

What's coming next
Two things, in this order.
First — Cambridge / IGCSE bundles. The CBC packs cover Kenya's main system. The Cambridge IGCSE and A Level catalog at Kenyan international schools is a separate world, and the council wants to extend the Study Pack model into Cambridge syllabi (different rules — past papers + examiner reports replace the marking-rubric model). Pricing will mirror: per-subject vs whole-level packs.
Second — embedded YouTube tutorials. Every Study Pack product page will eventually carry a free YouTube tutorial alongside, so buyers can preview teaching quality before paying. Channel build starts this fortnight.
